Today was the last day of SBA Testing for most of the kids in Barrow. Some, like our eighth graders, still have to take their Science Tests next Tuesday, but I've heard they're quick and easy. Molly, Rachel, and I were glorified hall monitors, escorting students to the bathroom and chatting with the teachers. During breaks, we passed out muffins and apples, encouraging students to eat as a way to wake up since most students are really starting to struggle with their sleep schedules as the sun is up longer and longer each day. Overall, a solid school day.
After school, Steve picked us all up to get back to Ilisagvik on time to get on Skype. We were in a rush so Rachel could participate in her induction ceremony back at Gustavus. It was really odd to be staring at a computer screen, seeing the inside of the Interpretive Center on campus, but cool to be part of the Sigma Pi Sigma, the Physics Honor Society, induction via Skype. Congrats to Rachel and her fellow senior inductees!
After all the excitement of the day and the past 24 hours, with the polar bear sighting and everything, we decided to lay low for the night. I think we're all suffering from a little bit of Cabin Fever, whether it's in the form of ghosting, giggling, or sleeping. We need to rest up for tomorrow and this weekend though, because the Spring Festival starts! That's all I've got for now. It's lesson planning time!
